Gift ideas for Him

The holidays are literally this weekend, and for those celebrating Hanukkah it’s here! As the holidays are quickly approaching, you’re absolutely clueless on what to get him. Never fear we’re here to offer up some last minute tips for gifts.

A watch
Now you can’t ever go wrong with a nice watch. Whether you choose a sporty looking one or one he can wear during a business meeting, is entirely up to you. Your man is bound to look for the time at one point during his day – why not get him something which will conveniently display it for him.

A pea coat
Doesn't necessarily need to be a pea coat, but something in a coat-like manner would be quite thoughtful. It could be a jacket, sweater, cardigan, even a poncho if that’s what your man would enjoy. You’ll help enhance a little style into his wardrobe and keep him warm.

A wallet
Depending on what kind of wallet you had in mind, it could be very helpful to him; one, because his wallet might be on the verge of falling apart and he hasn’t had time to find a replacement; two, because his wallet might be atrocious and should be replaced ASAP; three, because keeping money and credit cards stocked in pockets and glove compartments is no way to organize valuable assets!

A bottle of his favorite alcohol
This is a more price conscious gift (might we add that there’s nothing wrong in that). By buying his favorite alcohol you’ll show that you’ve been paying attention to what his interests are; simultaneously your generosity during the holidays will surely touch his heart.

A tablet or e-reader
Only applicable if he’s the techy type – there’s countless tablets that are available for every kind of user. If he’s an avid reader, looking into e-readers is another possibility, download his favorite books and present him with his very own portable library.

Typical Online Daters

Just like everything else in this world, online dating can be extremely beneficial at times & absolutely useless at other times. Out of the 40 million individuals that use some type of dating service, there’s an awfully strong chance you’ll be able to find someone compatible to you. The more you indulge yourself in the online dating community, the more you’ll notice how people act; thus, you’ll be able to distinguish the types of online daters you’ll often run into.

These are a small compilation of online dater characters we think will be most helpful while you search for a partner. Be advised that as you continue to communicate with these types of daters, things may get a bit complex. We’d also like to mention that you should always trust your intuition, there’s usually a plausible reason why you feel so icky about that someone – it’s just a matter of time before you find out what that reason is.

The Bipolar Nuisance
Now this may be a bit harder to pin-point. This kind of dater will have to be observed over a longer period of time. Once you’ve witnessed one incident, you’ll definitely know you’re dealing with this kind of dater. It can start with a simple argument; a simple trigger. You’ll notice that this dater will become exceedingly upset/annoyed/saddened/depressed then suddenly they’re immediately happy again. They offer no explanation to the outburst; they just go about their business normally. Another type is the dater that can’t make up their mind. One day they swore to the heavens that they loved something & the next they find it repulsive. Unless actively seeking a rollercoaster of emotions to make your life a bit more interesting, we suggest you ditch these daters as soon as they’re recognized.

The Pervert
This is probably the easiest type of dater to pin-point. You’ll notice that almost everything they say is in reference to some kind of sexual innuendo. They look as though they’re constantly undressing you with their eyes & you wouldn’t be surprised if they already knew how you looked like naked. Within the first couple hours they would’ve already mentioned having sex with you, at least 3 times. These daters are probably the least dangerous but (for obvious reasons) are the most inappropriate. They’ll comment about their skills in the sack, mention what they’re into sexually, and they’ll most likely suggest a sleep-over after the date. Now, what to do is solely up to you. Some people dig it, some people can’t stand it – “to each their own.”

The Liar
This type of dater is usually easy to spot. They’ll say one thing, and then completely contradict themselves in a later conversation. They might mention one type of job, and then admit to working at another. Somehow you’re never really sure what the truth is and what are just more lies. They’ll usually agree with everything you say, they’ll somehow like all the same music, art, and might be studying in the same line of work. If you notice that all their opinions are really yours then you should make for a break and ditch all the lies.

Gift Giving Etiquette

As the holidays rapidly approach, you’re faced with a difficult decision: whether or not you should buy a gift for that someone special. Gift giving is naturally a very complex proposition; it becomes even more complex when you throw a romance into the equation. As you consider your options and weigh out the pros and cons you realize that there are numerous factors that should be taken into account.

1. How long has this relationship existed for?
2. What type of relationship do you consider it to be?
3. Where is this gift exchange supposed to occur?
4. What kind of gift are you willing to purchase for them?
5. How will they perceive the gift if you get it for them?
6. How much is too much for a gift?

We know, the questions continue almost endlessly – but we figured those were the most important questions you should ask yourself. When it comes to the length of your relationship, it’s suggested that something light-hearted should be given if it’s just been a couple weeks. It’s almost a given that the longer you’ve been in the relationship, the more thought you should put into the gift; thus, amounting to a more meaningful and sometimes lavish present.

In regards to the type of relationship you’re in, think about whether it’s something casual, something extremely exclusive, or a little bit of both. The less serious the relationship is, the less pressure you have to get the “perfect” gift – at that point, it’s the thought that counts.

You should also consider where this gift exchange will take place. If it’s in front of family, friends, and colleagues you want to avoid giving them anything that may seem inappropriate. Also keep in mind that if other people are there to witness the gift exchange, you don’t want to look like a cheap gift-giver (unless you don’t mind)

The last three questions are very much associated with one another. The type of gift is in direct relationship to its cost. If you’re thinking Prada, then be prepared to spend a hefty penny. If it’s a set of matching PJ’s, we’re sure you won’t break your wallet. A very important thing to remember is that, usually, the more money spent on someone is a key indicator of how serious the relationship is/or will become. Think of gift giving as a type of investment, the more you invest in a gift the longer you plan on benefiting from it.

Tips from the Millionaire’s club

In order to bag your Mr. Millionaire it’s imperative that certain expectations are sustained before, during & after the date.

Though there are endless tips and tricks, the following are the first five that came to mind. The first date is practically the test course for the second, then the third, and so forth. You want to be as prepared as possible but above all else, make sure you relax & smile if in doubt.

Tip #1: Avoid over consumption
Remember that during the first date, it’s typically the first one-on-one time both parties have had with one another. With that said, getting champagne happy should be avoided at all cost. Nervousness is expected & it’s absolutely normal but don’t try to drink the nervous feeling away; save yourself from the possible embarrassment because it won’t work. Over consumption also applies to dinner portions – it’s true that your date will probably pick up the bill but you don’t want to order for a family of 4. Again, simplicity wins out – share an appetizer, order a soup/salad and, lastly, enjoy your entre.

Tip #2: No “ex” talk
It’s the first date, keep it simple – learn about your partner & not their past. The question with the “ex’s” will come up eventually but nothing makes a date turn sour faster than bringing up possible heart aches. If you have questions about their past keep them work, family, friend related – save their lost loves for another day.

Tip #3: Keep the conversation alive
Avoid going to noisy places for the first date; if you want to know more about them you’re going to need a place where you can actually share a conversation. Definitely skip the movies, ditch the bar, and bail on that concert- for the first date try to plan something romantic and quiet. This is the first time you’ll have time to ask the questions you’re curious about so you’ll need an environment where you can hear your date’s answers.

Tip #4: Stay confident
There’s nothing more attractive and sexy than someone who exhibits utter confidence. When it comes to your wardrobe, wear something that you feel sexy in – if you don’t feel it you won’t look it. Also, if you’re in cahoots between a thong or boy shorts go with the thong; underwear lines are not sexy under any circumstance.

Tip #5: Don’t forget your manners
A simple “thank you” and “your welcome” can go much farther than you would initially assume. Chances are that if your date is of any wealth, they’ll convey the same courteous gestures and they’ll definitely notice if you’re familiar with them too. You don’t want to look like you’ve been raised by a pack of wild wolves so make sure you chew with your mouth shut, wipe your hands on your napkin, and no elbows on the table!
